Elevator installation is the process of setting up a lift system in a building to move people or goods between floors. It begins with planning and selecting the right type of elevator based on the building size, usage, and space. Common types include hydraulic, traction, and machine room-less (MRL) elevators.
First, a site inspection is done to understand the structure and design requirements. Then, the shaft or elevator pit is built if not already present. This vertical space allows the elevator to move safely. Next, the guide rails, motor, and control system are installed, followed by the cabin (or car), doors, and wiring. Modern elevators also include safety systems, emergency alarms, and sometimes backup power.
