FTA Lifts’ MRL elevators use gearless permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM), which are highly compact and efficient. These motors, combined with FTA’s integrated V-VVF (Variable Voltage Variable Frequency) drives, provide smooth acceleration and deceleration, resulting in a very comfortable ride. According to FTA, their MRL drives include the motor, brake controller, inverter, and safety systems all housed together in a compact, IP-rated panel, eliminating the need for a separate machine room. Because FTA’s MRL system places the drive machinery inside the elevator shaft (rather than in a separate room), it significantly saves building space.
This is especially valuable in residential or mid-rise buildings where every square meter counts. For apartments, FTA explicitly markets its MRL lifts as a space-saving solution that integrates neatly with modern architecture.
