A wide door elevator is a type of lift specifically designed with broader door openings to allow easy and safe access for large items, wheelchairs, stretchers, or high foot traffic. These elevators are commonly used in hospitals, commercial buildings, shopping malls, airports, and residential complexes that require accessible and efficient movement of people or equipment.
The door width of a wide door elevator typically ranges from 900 mm to 1200 mm, compared to the standard 700–800 mm in regular elevators. This increased width ensures smooth entry and exit for people with disabilities, patients on stretchers, or goods trolleys. The doors are usually automatic sliding (center-opening or telescopic) and equipped with infrared door sensors to prevent accidental closing when something is in the doorway.
